Laser eye surgery reshapes the cornea using a laser to correct refractive errors such as
nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. At our clinic in Frankfurt, we use the latest
laser technology to ensure precise and safe results.
We offer the most advanced procedures, including LASIK, PRK, and SMILE. Each method has its
benefits, depending on your individual prescription and eye health.
People with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism may be good candidates for laser eye
surgery. A thorough pre-examination at our Frankfurt clinic will determine if you are eligible.
The procedure itself is painless because numbing eye drops are applied beforehand. After the
surgery, some patients may experience mild discomfort or a foreign body sensation, which typically
subsides quickly.
Recovery time depends on the procedure. LASIK offers a very short recovery period, with most
patients experiencing improved vision the next day. PRK and SMILE may take a few extra days for
full visual stabilization.
The results are usually permanent since the cornea is reshaped to correct the refractive error.
However, age-related vision changes such as presbyopia may still occur over time, which cannot be
corrected by laser surgery.
As with any medical procedure, there are risks involved, but they are minimal—especially when
using the latest laser technology. Possible side effects include temporary dry eyes or visual
disturbances such as halos around lights.
Most patients can return to work within 1–2 days after LASIK. Recovery from PRK and SMILE may take
slightly longer. Strenuous activities and sports should generally be avoided for at least 1–2
weeks, depending on your doctor’s recommendations.

Public health insurance usually does not cover laser eye surgery, as it is considered an elective
procedure. However, some private health insurers may offer reimbursement options depending on the
