Glaucoma Highlights

From Diagnosis To Treatment.

What is Glaucoma?

Optic Nerve Damage And Vision Loss

Grüner Star Untersuchung der Augen durch Ivana Pavlovic

Glaucoma is a progressive eye disease that
gradually impairs vision. It is often

caused by increased eye pressure,
which can damage the optic nerve.
If left

untreated, glaucoma can lead to a progressively smaller field of vision.

Early diagnosis is crucial to slow the
progression of the disease.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an eye disease that can lead to gradual vision loss, often
caused by increased eye pressure or other factors. Early diagnosis and
treatment are crucial to prevent progression and preserve eyesight.

2. I have no symptoms. Should I still get
screened?

Yes, because glaucoma often develops without noticeable symptoms in the
early stages. Regular eye exams are essential to detect the disease
early,
as untreated glaucoma can cause irreversible damage to the optic nerve.
Our
clinic offers comprehensive screenings to protect your long-term eye
health.

Glaucoma is detected through a thorough eye examination, including
intraocular pressure measurement, optic nerve assessment, and imaging
tests
such as optical coherence tomography (OCT). We use state-of-the-art
technology to ensure precise and early diagnosis.

Treatment depends on the stage of the disease. In most cases, medicated
eye
drops are used to lower intraocular pressure. In more advanced cases,
laser
treatments or surgical procedures may be necessary. Our clinic provides
a
full range of treatment options tailored to your individual needs.

Regular screenings are recommended starting at age 40, especially if you
have risk factors such as a family history of glaucoma, diabetes, or
high
blood pressure. We offer personalized glaucoma screening programs to
assess
and protect your eye health.

Glaucoma cannot be cured, but with proper treatment, its progression can
be
slowed or halted. The earlier it is detected, the better the chances of
preserving your vision. Regular check-ups are key to early detection and
effective management.

Your risk increases with age and is higher if you have a family history
of
glaucoma, diabetes, or high blood pressure. If you belong to a high-risk
group, regular eye exams are strongly recommended. Our clinic provides
individualized screening programs to help safeguard your vision.
