New Lenses for Visual Freedom
In a refractive lens exchange, the natural lens— which can
only
focus light on a single range—is replaced with an artificial lens that
distributes
light
across multiple focal points, enabling clear vision at
all
distances and reducing the
need for glasses.
Permanent Better Vision
Permanent: Once
implanted,
the artificial lens
remains in the eye
permanently.
Freedom from Glasses:
The
new lens eliminates the need
for glasses.
Recovery: Most
patients
can resume normal
activities the next day.
Comprehensive: Corrects
various refractive errors,
including nearsightedness,
farsightedness,
and
astigmatism.
Cataract Prevention: By
replacing the natural lens,
cataracts can no longer develop.

A lens exchange is a surgical procedure in which the eye’s natural lens is
replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). The procedure is
typically performed on an outpatient basis and takes about 15–30 minutes per
eye. First, numbing eye drops are applied to ensure comfort. A small
incision is then made, the natural lens is removed, and the artificial lens
is implanted.
• Permanent correction of refractive errors: Treats nearsightedness,
farsightedness, and presbyopia.
• Prevention or treatment of cataracts: Eliminates cataracts or prevents
their development.
• Improved quality of life: Many patients no longer need glasses or contact
lenses after the procedure.
No, a lens exchange is generally not painful. Numbing eye drops are applied
before the procedure to anesthetize the eye. You may feel slight pressure
during the surgery, but no pain. Mild discomfort may occur afterward, but it
typically resolves quickly.
• First day: Many patients can resume normal activities the following day.
• First few weeks: It may take several weeks for vision to fully stabilize.
Regular follow-up appointments are essential to monitor the healing process.
As with any surgical procedure, risks and side effects can occur, including:
• Infections
• Inflammation
• Increased intraocular pressure
• Visual disturbances
Serious complications are rare. During a detailed consultation, we will inform
you about all potential risks and side effects.
• People with significant refractive errors or presbyopia
• Patients who no longer want to wear glasses or contact lenses
• Individuals for whom laser vision correction is not possible or not
sufficient
The artificial lenses used in a lens exchange are designed to last a
lifetime. They are made of biocompatible materials that are well tolerated
by the eye. In most cases, no further corrections or replacement surgeries
are needed after the procedure.
• Trifocal lenses: Provide excellent vision at all three distances (near,
intermediate, and far) and offer the highest level of glasses-free vision.
• Monofocal-plus lenses: Offer superior optical quality with fewer optical
phenomena and allow for excellent distance and intermediate vision.
The choice between the two depends on your individual visual needs and
lifestyle. A thorough examination and consultation at our clinic will help you
make the best decision based on your specific requirements and visual habits.
